Earthquake's, Tsunami's, Fundraiser's, Oh My!

March 19th, 2011, I'll be contributing some stuff to two Japan Earthquake/Tsunami fundraisers.

"Terror from the Sea" was created for "#prayforjapan". Hosted by Japan LA, and curated by Sweet Streets, all sales are donated to Red Cross. This painting was created specifically for this fundraiser and was inspired by the devastation caused by the tsunami.

This second painting, "Water Works" is hosted by Giant Robot, and all sales are donated to UNICEF. This painting was originally inspired by and created for a fundraiser for the creation of water pumps that provided drinking water in 3rd world countries. However, due to events in Japan, it was decided to donate towards disaster relief from the earthquake and tsunami.

I also donated one of my last "Possessed" figures from my personal collection for the "Water Works" fundraiser. For more information, please contact Giant Robot

Inlé

INLÉ

This evening, "Inlé", a group show curated by Greg Simkins, hosted by Gallery 1988, and featuring paintings inspired by the story "Watership Down", specifically, Inlé, the black rabbit that functions as a metaphor for death.
For my contribution, I chose to focus around "Hazel", Watership's protagonist. In the story, Hazel gets shot in the leg, a wound that gravely effects our hero. For my painting I chose to feature the wounded Hazel standing in crutches as Inlé, the black rabbit inspects the damage.

"They Threw the Book at Me"

A little while ago, I created this painting as a gift to my attorney. It's admittedly a small painting, but hey, it's a gift. Better than nothing, right? Regardless, I have a feeling that I'll be recreating a bigger version of this for my "I Am Your Play Thing" solo show, September 2012, at Rotofugi in Chicago.

Omi (Series 1) Artist Series

Thursday, March 3rd 2011, Munky King will be releasing the Omi (series 1) Artist Series. Contributing artists include Buff Monster, Luke Chueh, Ferg, Nathan Jurevicius, Frank Kozik, Munky King, Dave Pressler, Greg Simkins, and Yoskay Yamamoto. The above image is the design we chose to use for the series. For the release party, Series 1 artists were asked to customize a wall of Omi's (9 Omi's per wall). Though I'm not sure how many of the artists actually did one, this is my contribution for the show.
